Attended on Workshops, Innovate4Climate, Singapore

From June 4th 2019 to 7th the OECC attended on Workshops, Innovate4Climate (I4C) in Singapore.
Some highlights in the workshops are as followings:

 

Workshop1:
Event Title: Carbon Markets and the SDGs: A Critical Role for Sustainable Development in Article 6 & Beyond
Organizers: German Emissions Trading Authority, Gold Standard
Highlights:
– In order to develop the Article 6, Paris Agreement, to cover the mitigation actions and sustainable development in the Article 6 and not to establish harm principles.
– Classify the climate actions to SDG indicators by using SDG impact tools and achieve other SDG indicators.
– Promote sustainable development by analyzing different mechanisms under the Article 6.
– There are 2 approaches, project developer side and market player side on the SDG. The project developer side sees the effectiveness on projects and the market player sees how contributes to SDG.

 

Workshop2:
Event Title: What’s Next for Internal Carbon Pricing? Pricing Carbon into Investment Decision & Supply Chain
Organizer: Navigant
Highlights:
– Add environmental assessment method in ESG score in order to promote Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP) on financial institutions and procurement.
– 2 approaches, investors and banks to use ICP for the financial institutions.
– Korea Emissions Trading Scheme (KETS) initiated in 2015 and public and private banks implement carbon financing.
– For companies, various risks exist on carbon market and the companies realize what have to do something in this climate situation.
– The companies are interested in Carbon Pricing and sustainable business is smart business.
