UNFCCC COP18/CMP8 Side Event

Viet Nam: Policy development, financial mechanism, technology transfer to respond to climate change

 

Organisers:
The Government of Viet Nam, The Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Global Environment Centre Foundation (GEC) and Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC)

 

This COP18/CMP8 side event featured efforts by Viet Nam in cooperation with Japan and the international community to respond to climate change with a particular focus on preparation for NAMAs/MRV under the National Target Program to Respond to Climate Change (NTP-RCC). Also, policy development, the institutional framework in place, GHG quantification methods, new market mechanisms as well as technology development and transfer were highlighted.

 

The Event was attended by more than 80 experts. During question and answer session, there are several questions and comments on MRV activities of NAMAs, current status of other country’s NAMAs, NAMAs planning in waste sector, difference between JCM and CDM, and others.
