Workshop on “Bilateral Credit Mechanism and Capacity Building for MRV in Asia, Latin America and Africa”

 

On 29th November, 2011, the workshop event titled “Bilateral Credit Mechanism and Capacity Building for MRV in Asia, Latin America and Africa” took place at the conference room of Southern Sun Elangeni Hotel in Durban, South Africa. This event was co-organized by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), Pacific Consultants Co., Ltd., INGÉROSEC Corporation, Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) and Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC)

 

This event introduced and explained the Bilateral Offset Credit Mechanism (BOCM) which has been proposed by the MOEJ. And presentations of capacity building activities for MRV in each region, Asia, Latin America and Africa delivered.

 

The event was attended by more than 50 experts including negotiators, researchers, carbon market players, NGOs, press and etc. Event participants showed high concern to BOCM and MRV issues. During the event, there are various questions and comments, such as procedural matters of BOCM, next steps of BOCM scheme, and requests for this BOCM scheme etc.
